Sangria Boat Cruise in Portugal

So the next day was our Sangria Sailboat "Cruise" but we had time before we had to leave for that.  So me and Bree decided to go exploring some more.  We heard that there was a little light house about 15 min away that we could walk to.  So we woke up before most people and headed over there.  Along the way we discovered that they had Stations of the Cross set up along the road too.  It was really neat and I realized that it was set up a really long distance.  So figured they must do a living stations type thing, and it must be similar to the distance that Jesus walked.  I don't know for sure, but it seemed to be a correct assumption to me.  It was pretty cool.  We also saw cute little doggies in someone's yard that we petted through the fence.  They were adorable.  We hung out with them for a few minutes, seeing as we weren't in a hurry.  I also realized that I watch waay too many murder mystery shows and read too many murder mystery novels, because I just kept imagining bad things happening to us.  So my moral for that morning was that bad things don't happen! haha
As we approached the light house we realized that we could go exploring and walk through the grass a bit and go out farther on the rocks.  So we walked out on the rocks and realized how crazy high these are.  And we saw some great views, along with a super scary bowl like drop.

After we explored that, we went over and hung out at the lighthouse for a while.  The light house was nothing special though.  The view was fantastic and I think we could see the end of Portugal.  But other than that we just hung out, chatted and then walked back to the hotel for the meeting to head over to the dock for our sailboat cruise.

Now, when they call it a "cruise", they really just mean that they put us all on a small sailboat and serve us homemade sangria in little plastic cups with a small radio on one side of the boat, haha.  But it was still really fun, and I met a lot of nice people.  We then all took turns hopping on tiny little boats and getting a quick trip through the "caves" of rather rock formations near the shore.  That was super cool though.  The boat cruise lasted about 2 hours, and I had so much fun, because I love sailing :)
That rock formation is supposed to look like an elephant
Me on the boat!

Of course I took a video for you all too!!  We got on these small little motor boats and go driven around the caves and saw "elephants".  One girl from my program was on our boat and kept saying "guys we see elephants" because some other friends convinced her we saw real elephants.  It was hilarious when the boat guide finally pointed them out.

When we got back from the boat tour we walked to another beach and got to plop down for a few hours.  Unfortunately it was very cold and windy, so it wasn't very good weather to enjoy the sun.  However, we did have fun when a random stray dog walked up to us.  He was a cutie and attracted lots of attention.  We also ended up playing volleyball with a bunch of people from another program and I braved the freezing cold water and jumped in just for the heck of it.  But we spent most of the day hanging around the beach, per usual and taking pictures of the beautiful views.  When it was finally time to go back we had about 2 hours before we were meeting up with the group again later to go watch the sunset at The End of the World.  Yup, you heard that right, I went to the end of the world.  So at one point in time, in like the 1400's they thought that was the last point of the world.  Before Columbus and everyone discovered land beyond that point they thought that that was where the world ended.  So it has been named son and it has a gorgeous view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Sunset on the End of the World

So Discover Granada took us to the point, near a light house with lots of rocks to climb out onto and watch the sun set on the ocean.  It was beautiful.  One of the guides said that he had a really cool moment last time he was there.  He said that right as the sun set a whale hopped up out of the water and splashed it's tail, just like in a movie.  It sounded so awesome, and obviously we all wanted something like that to happen, but it didn't.  It was actually pretty clouded, but it was still a beautiful sunset.
Me and Bree at the End of the World

But that was pretty much the entire day.  After the sunset they brought us to the center of town again, but we had already eaten and didn't feel like spending money at the bar because they only had specials, no free drinks. :P  So we took the bus back to the hotel and were lame and hung out in the room and watched British T.V.  It was a really relaxing night and such a beautiful day full of excellent memories.
View from the rooftop pool
The next day was just as "eventful".  Meaning, we woke up and headed to the beach once again.  haha.  First we decided to hang out on the rooftop pool for a bit.  So that's what we did, and we realized that the rooftop pool has an amazing view of the ocean.  We laid outside for about 1 1/2 and then headed back down to the beach to lay with the rest of the girls from our program.  That day was the best weather too.  There wasn't a single cloud in the sky and it was perfectly hot outside.  Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect.  Bree and I bought some sandwich meat to make sandwiches for lunch, got some wine coolers and did some people watching while chatting with the other girls.  It really was the perfect day.  We also saw a bachelor party wearing not nearly enough clothing in speedo's and mesh swim shorts (yuck!).

After we laid around for about 5 hours we decided we were done burning and would go get some ice cream in the city.  So we made the walk, and got some amazing gelato ice cream.  It was straight up amazing ice cream.  I got mint flavored and it was heaven.  We had just enough time to walk back, get our stuff from the luggage room and get on the bus to head back to Granada.  We finally left Portugal by about 5:30 and got back to Granada at about 2 in the morning.  Granted, I had classes the next day at 8:30, which I did not attend.  But it was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.  I am so happy I decided to go over to Portugal and the program was amazing.  Oh yea!  I also had a tour guide that looked exactly like Johnny Depp when he put his hair in a pony tail, and like Russel Brand when it was down.  It was really creepy how similar they looked.

Russel Brand Look-a-like

So that's my trip!  It was so much fun, I got to spend it with a Russel Brand look alike, it was awesome.  I had an amazing trip and now I only have about 1/2 weeks left.  This is nuts, I can't believe how fast this semester went by!

Until next time, love you all! <3
