Sacrebleu! My last day!

On our last day Hollie and I  both had late flights.  Mine was at 20:55 (8:55) and Hollie's was at 10:05 so we decided to get up, check out and meander around the area close to our hostel.  We got out of the hostel at around 11 and headed towards the Sacre-Coeur.  I literally don't know how to spell or say it, so I'm sorry if that's wrong. Where we were staying was literally down the street from the really big Basilica that the Catholics put on top of a hill to assert their power.  Well I'd say they did so!! There are no pictures allowed inside of it, which I respected, and I was so able to enjoy it more because of that.  But the outside was magnificent and the view of the city was amazing.  I know I'm doing a terrible job laying these posts out, but I just simply have too many pictures I want to share.  Good thing most of them are on FB now so you can see more.

So that's me outside Sacre-Coeru and I loved the inside.  Everything about it was gorgeous and I am so happy I visited.  There were some interesting people outside the church.  I have to say I kind of like being in places like that, simply because there's always someone singing or entertaining you.  It makes for a nice atmosphere.  Except for the big scary guys trying to sell you Eiffel Towers on their big ring of Eiffel Towers and people that touch you and say "Don't worry miss" to try to sell you a piece of string.  Or the one's that shout "Lady Gaga!" and "Hakuna Matata".  Those two were comical.

After that we did some touristy shopping and I bought a few things for people, some nice gifts and a few things for myself.  Oh, and we heard about some really weird museum that turned out to be right next to the cathedral.  So we went in...now I knew that I don't like modern art.  I can go to about Picasso, and Van Goh, and after that I hit a wall and just don't understand those places.  So this was a modern art museum...modern art is disturbing.  I really didn't like.  I saw some fur coats hooked up to a respirtaor, some super hero fetus', and some more disturbing drawings, paintings, sculptures, created things...you name it, I probably saw it.  People are disturbed.  Either way, it was quite an experience I don't think I'll forget.  Good thing pictures weren't allowed...I wouldn't have even wanted to take pictures, no one should see some of those disturbing things.

Then we went to....MOULIN ROUGE.  Yup, where we stayed was really close to the Moulin Rouge, the famed can-can show area and place where sex shops line the streets.  Yea, there were about 20 sex shops and VIP like stores around there, not to mention the other venues for stripper shows and the likes.  But Moulin Rouge was cool to see!  When we looked up how much they charge for shows there, it's insane.  at good night show is at least $100+, I think it's even $200+ for the show at 9 or something when most people go to dinner there.  But granted, it was really cool to see.  I didn't think I'd be interested in it, but this thing is super cool.

After we saw that cool building we wandered over towards this really cool store my book told us about called Maime.  It's this store that basically transports you back into the 40's.  They have tons of authentic clothes from about the 20's-40's.  They blast jazz music from that era, and the place is filled to the brim with old style shoes, dresses, hats, jewelery.  Everything!  We got there just when it opened, because in Paris they have this weird thing with Monday's.  Almost all museums are closed and a lot of stores have weird hours.  So we got there just when it opened and the cute french man that owns the place was chatting with us and saying sorry for the mess.  Well...this is why he was saying sorry...  Yup, that's what we saw when we went down there.  Just piles and piles of shoes.  IT was kind of like shoe heaven, except they were all old style, which I could never pull off, so I just kind of stared in awe while Hollie looked for some new shoes.  Hers were literally falling apart, and she wanted some like those.  So we wandered around the store.  I saw some Go-Go boots, a hat like Madam Zaroni might wear, a flapper dress, goggles and an old pilots jacket.  The place was awesome!! And it was an excellent waste of time.  They charge a lot for their stuff, but it was sooo cool!! I would definitely recommend people to go visit the store.

After that we went back to the hostel.  Had some lunch/early dinner and waited around to head out for our flights.  I went to the metro and met up with Kendall and Jen, and we waited around in the airport for about 2 hours.  Our flight was actually 20 min early, so we got to Madrid a bit early and waited around for our bus back to Granada.  Our bus left at 1:30.  During the wait in the airport I couldn't sleep so I took the opportunity to write down all I did in my journal, although I didn't finish.  Then I wrote more for the bus and slept some more.  I arrived back in Granada at around 6:30, and got back to my house at around 7.  My senora was still in London till that night so I had the place to myself.  I short circited the place by accident with one of my plugs but called her son to fix it and then was off and relaxing and catching up on sleep for the rest of the day.

And THAT was my trip....next up; Gibraltar, Sevilla and Cordoba.

Love you all!
