T-Minus 13 days…

Oh my gosh, the countdown to when I leave is getting smaller and in the teens.  After a weekend in Worcester seeing the best of the best friends from college I finally had to deal with the realization of me leaving.  I just moved my sister into college for her second year and upon my last night at home with her it all finally hit me.  I’m leaving the country….again.  Of course I was then hit by a train with a range of emotions and have been trying to push them away for as long as possible.  I guess I’ve just been pretending like it’s not happening, and when I say goodbye to my friends for the last time I tried not to think about it.  Instead, I’m just pretending that it’ll all be okay and that I won’t miss the great Halloween party they’ll have without me, or the nights up late drinking wine, or the quick drive to Worcester to casually meet for dinner.

Then, more importantly, I realized that I wouldn’t be able to spend these last two weeks with my sister, one whom I’ve grown very close to, especially since we went to the same college for a year.  It all hit me and I finally broke down, and said to myself, “What are you doing?” and “Is this worth it"?”.  Luckily, the answer is yes.  Yes, this is absolutely worth it.  I know I’ll be super homesick, I know I’ll miss my family, and my friends, and some pretty wild times.  But I also know that this is not only something I want to do, but something I have to do.  I’m starting to get ready to go and accepting the challenges that I will face.  Bring it on Spain, I’m ready.  Only two more weeks and then I’m Spain bound and on my own.

!Aventuras Nuevas!

Hello all!!

I'm starting up my blog again because, guess what? I'm leaving again!! Yup, that's right, I'm taking off, leaving this wasteland country and heading back to Spain!  I'm heading out for a new adventure.

I just graduated school almost 3 weeks ago now and have been working on my application process and getting everything set up with CIEE to head off and teach English abroad as a Language and Culture Assistant.  This program works in tandem with the Spanish government (junta) and sets people like me up with schools all over the country, and even all over the world, to help teach English to a variety of age groups at local schools.  So, I thought I would make a new post just so anyone who visits now won't be confused.

I will leaving for Sevilla, Spain on September 15th and be there until at least May 31st.  Come September I leave for Sevilla for a 5 day orientation program where they help us learn more about all the things we need to know to live and survive in a foreign country.  They'll give us info on finding an apartment, applying for our Spanish ID and all sorts of other things.  From there I'll be leaving for the city where I was placed, Huelva.  I'll be living in Huelva until May and get to teach English there at my school located right in the city, IES Clara Campoamor.  I'll do another post later about the city I'll be living in, and I'll post some other more posts about the process I'm going through.  Also, my new goal for this blog is to keep these posts shorter than last time.  Last year I was writing waaay too much, haha.  So new goal, write more concise posts!

Other than that, I don't have much more to say right now.  I have my visa appointment in July and am just getting all the paperwork I need for that together, along with paying the outrageous fees that are included.  Also, welcome to my new and improved blog!  I just updated it, the background and the layout so it's much more user friendly. :)

Map of where I'll be!

Until next time,
Bonnie
